Dear Plex,
Restore the old player option ! , as it is impossible to view SD files in the upscaling using SHIELD,
SD files are output in their original size , but the TV does not switch to the original source ( only 720p ), so SHIELD cannot run its upscaling function. This is weak, I do not know why you have removed the option to select old/new player ??
I will probably have to check the KODI solution ,
My mistake, although the default setting is different from the old player. And I see now that everything works OK.
One wrong settings I had set on my Plex app
If you play something e.g. 720x576, you have to change display mode in Exo player from original to letterbox and then it is OK
Thanks !
No !!! Letterbox really wasn’t a default in Exo
Before, there was a problem with Exo in general, because SD video was played together with subtitles in original quality , it was a nightmare
Well… make no mistake, what we have here is a full blown Family Sized Nightmare in progress, but ‘Letterbox’ is the default across all resolutions. … and now you know.
Buckle up - there’s still that Nightmare… for us all…
One would assume something like ‘Original’ or ‘Normal’ would trigger the appropriate response from a user - which would be to do nothing when ‘Letterboxed’ indicates it’s something other than ‘regular’… when the setting says ‘Letterbox’ and they’re watching a full sized 1920x1080 image with no ‘Letterboxing’… or they’re watching 4:3 ‘Pillarboxed’ material with ‘Letterbox’ being the correct setting…
Plex doesn’t include Users in their design plans - they just design and call things whatever they come up with as it’s going out the door…
