Why does Plex keep changing my selected setting from “off” to “on”? I prefer to use the old video player. Thank you.
Which Player please?
On March 26, 2020, I downloaded and installed the then latest version of PMS. A few minutes ago, I downloaded and installed version 1.18.9.2578.
I’d like to report an observation. This is the second or third time that “enable new video player” has automatically switched from “off” to “on” after Plex notified my Mac mini that a new version of PMS is available.
In any event, PMS is running on a Synology 1019+ NAS, and I use an nVIDIA Shield TV (2017 or 2018) to stream videos stored on that NAS. The current version is 8.0.2 (32.5.205.105).
Here’s what I don’t like about having new video player enabled. I cannot see the “extras” (e.g., featurettes) without leaving, and then returning to, the movie folder. This problem does not exist with new video player disabled.
Thanks for clarifying.
I will retag this for you. It is an Nvidia Shield app issue.
I’ll also ask @DaveBinM to inform if you would please sir?
I will also go test and see what I can learn although I have the Shield Pro 2019
Having it default to on is the intended behaviour. The old player is going away soon, and we’re wanting to move people to the new player, and identify any outstanding issues that may remain.
I hope you will be able to address the issue I mentioned. Thanks.
I really appreciate your help. Thanks.
I’m not sure exactly what issue you’re referring to here?
It’s not like we don’t ask for feedback
And the most often given advice when people experience issues with the new player is “use the old one”
Well, we won’t need to worry about that soon - when the old Player is removed - long before it’s issues are resolved…
Plex can bring on all the Warner Brothers they like, but they’re still going to be Plex.
There will be always issues and I am on Dave’s side here. I like the new player and already reported several playback issues with it, most of them being resolved if I remember correctly.
I like the new player too - and as soon as I can use it for a stream that won’t randomly pause itself if I use any number other than “0” in Terminate Paused Sessions, that will be great.
Oh, yes - I’ve been promised 7.3 fixes this.
Unfortunately I can’t seem to be able to get 7.3 on my FireTV - so if there’s a fix out there somewhere - you can’t prove it by me.
You see - on my Roku if there’s an update… I simply click ‘Check For Update’.
On FireTV - we wait, and wait, and wait - while being assured everything is going to be fine.
Well that one is on Amazon and not on Plex (I mean the slow roll-out).
It’s hard to throw too much shade on the people that make Marmite Possible in West Virginia (In Two Days), but a bit of this disaster probably falls on both concerned parties. I don’t really care who’s fault it is, but it truly sucks.
Truly.
… and when it gets here - it still won’t have any actor info - at all - but that’s a glaring, years long, FireTV Team Fumble for another thread. <—there’s a
million of them. <—it’s not like it’s a mystery. <—they simply don’t care.
Well, we can’t fix everything the next day, but we work our best to identify and fix as many issues as we can
You can download the APK directly from the forums and sideload it if you want.
STOP blaming the guys who are actually responding and trying to help!
Having this issue sucks. Will try the beta player to see if the issue is fixed, Because having to enable the old player constantly is a pain the ***.
A side note… There is one thing worse than this new player not working though… Having to see another mention of “Aunt Gladys” here at Plex.tv… Anyway to mute words on this site HMU
This issue was resolved at some point. I’ll be using new media player from now on.
