In which folder does Plex get fonts from?

Hello there,

As you may know, some subtitles have there own styles & fonts. When you play an episode with a subtitle that has different type of fonts and those fonts aren’t installed in your server, all fonts will be replaced with another basic font.

I have used Mac OS as a server for a few days and everything is great because all the fonts are installed. But not in Linux server!

I installed the necessary fonts in both:
/usr/share/fonts
~/.fonts

However, in Linux, Plex plays the episodes without looking into those paths to see if the necessary fonts installed or not. It just replaced them with another ugly font!

Any help? I know another solution would be installing all the necessary fonts within the subtitles, but that will take a very long time.

So that’s why i’m asking “in which folder does Plex get fonts from?” so I can install my fonts in it.

Also very interested to hear an answer to this question. I thought that Plex uses fontconfig on Linux systems, but looks like it’s not the case…

P.S. For everyone who stumbles on this question. Some recent version added more verbose logging about fonts being loaded, so I was able to get the directory from logs. The fonts are loaded from /usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Resources/Fonts
