I’m having some issues with a couple of my movies not pulling correct metadata. I try to use the Fix Match option, it finds the movie, but isn’t pulling the correct titles in a couple cases and in a couple others isn’t pulling the correct title or cover art.
Can you show some screenshots and how your files are named that aren’t matching? That will help pinpoint where it’s failing. You can also post the logs: Plex Media Server Logs | Plex Support
Sometimes the Plex folks can dig in there and see mismatches too.
I pulled some screenshots of 2 quick examples (there are others but I didn’t want to dig forever to find every example). I don’t have anything in the logs yet because I had them disabled and just enabled them. Will post later after my library rescans for metadata.
If it is… turn it off and refresh your metadata. See if that fixes it because it looks like everything else is picking up just fine but it’s using the “title” tag on the files.
Also… your folder setup is a bit off for Plex’s liking but depending on how you have set it up in your library it may be fine, but if it’s acting up you’ll want to adjust your folder structure.
Plex recommends this setup: https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-movie-media-files/ … you can get away with not being strict on it (I don’t follow it exactly myself all the time) but if you get oddities with results for matching you may need to adjust it. Just FYI. Personally, I prefer less granular storage and let Plex handle genre sorting and so forth with the filters and smart collections features.
Thanks! That did the trick (at least for those 2). That option was on and I didn’t even know it existed. As for the folder structure, I stumbled on something today saying what you said: that Plex doesn’t seem to like the movie categories and wants all files in a single structure. But it’s never been an issue before, so I’ll just leave that for now since the other solution fixed it for me.
That’s incorrect.
It is recommended to create a subfolder for every movie.
It is usually fine to have several movies in a common folder.
But as soon as movies get matched incorrectly, you want to change it to the recommended approach.
