Matching video file data not working

Server Version#:Server 2012 (not R2)
Player Version#: 1.18.8.2527

Most movies on this server now refuse to match. Sometimes they will show the match but selecting it then just spins for a while with no change. I’ve tried using IMDB tag as the title results are the same, I have a backup server, same version that seems to work … mostly.

Your file names are out of compliance.
ALL the movie files I saw have no (YEAR) field.
Many are in ALL CAPS.

If you want Plex to behave as expected - follow the instructions:

With LMA in priority, Embedded Titles within MP4/M4V files are preferred - even over a perfect file name. As you name things correctly, Refresh Metadata may, or may not do anything.
If you make the names and structures compliant - then Plex Dance - Plex will try again from the start with a brand new bundle.

I have the same problem and the file naming is ok. I think the problem is the latest Plex Media Server Version 1.18.9.2571.

Thanks all I will read and get back here after I try a few things. Yes I switched to mp4 unclear why that matters. I did. It have any issues until a couple of versions back. Note that my backup server is able to match 95% of the time unlike my main server which can pull up the search list by match.

I discovered a failure to match media yesterday. I have two plex servers. One active and the other standby. Turned on the standby and updated the files but the new movie entries would not match. Looked at the forums and tried deleting the caches, that did not help. Tested by adding a new movie to the primary and it too did not match. Both servers at 1.18.9.2571 but the active is Windows 7 and the Standby Windows 10. Checked the Agent Configuration, found identical.

yeah still no luck I get some to match but not others. 1917 seems to still be an issue. Do further logs help here ?

I did try following the ordering of LMA from this posts and that fixed it for today. Movie title not updating despite "Fix Match"

I think you may be right. I went back to the previous version 1.18.7.2438, and all matching works.

Prior to downgrading the version, I was failing the match function on all movies new and old (ones that had previously matched fine). TV matching was working.

Not sure what changed in the latest version, but the prior version works.
