Incomplete Metadata

My apologies in advance but I don’t know what else to do. We moved my data to a new hard drive. Plex is running on a QNAP server. Since the move Plex recognized the QNAP as a new server. Now my TV shows are not showing the Metadata.

I have removed the library. Done the Plex Dance several times.

I removed the server app and reinstalled.

I have been trying troubleshooting for several days now and I am at a loss. Each time different shows are not showing working correctly.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I worked perfectly prior to moving to a new hard drive.

Please explain what you mean by "metadata’.

TheTVDB folks are having a problem internally and there is a workaround.

That workaround exists in two forms:

  1. Edit the library section -> Advanced -> switch to TMDB as the agent and rematch the media (unmatch it first)
  2. Perform a Fix Match and select TMDB there

I thought metadata referred to the cover pictures and text that shows up in plex for each movie. Mine is currently not displaying any pictures and sometimes not the text information. I have tried the suggestion above and while it can find a match it is not display all the information like it use to.

Thanks!

A fix for this issue will be included in the next Plex Media Server beta release.

Thank you!!!

To all PlexPass users reading this thread.

The update is available from plex.tv/downloads

@ChuckPa - This past weekend, I reorganized how my media was stored on my NAS volumes, which allowed me to create libraries to make visible to various age groups (I have an 11 yr old, a 17 yr old and a 19yr old in the home, + my wife and I). Of course, this triggered a need to re-pull all the metadata/show poster images. Because of this, I started experiencing the symptom where title and synopsis data were brought in, but lost all poster art.

I just updated my 2 PMS instances on Win 7 and 1 PMS on Ubuntu, as suggested above. Unfortunately, same symptom. I have also attempted to use TMDB vs TheTVDB without luck.

Everything was perfect before I started my project - now I’m stumped.

Thoughts?

Servers:
Texas - Win 7
Arizona - Win 7
Montana - Linux / Ubuntu

Now … this is happening on some content (about a 1/3). Trying to get Plex to pull the data via Fix Match or Refresh Metadata on the shows that are missing brings in no poster images.

Here is how a Library is displayed (Montana and Arizona - Texas is going through its scans right now):

Did you force refresh all metadata?

Ya … I did. Here’s what I am going to do, though. As the update is still “fresh”, I’m going to let it rest for the night and see what happens when the scheduled tasks run overnight. Not giving up … I know we’ll get it sorted

I’ll report back tomorrow evening on the status.

If there are residual issues and you’re using Linux, I can look at the logs, otherwise we’ll need the Windows team .

I’ve been having the same issues after migrating movie files to a new external HD. Metadata is all over, despite the fact the files are exactly the same just in a different location. In addition, I thought PMS was supposed to recognise an existing/matching file and reflect if it has (or hasn’t) been watched - this doesn’t happen, all the files/entries just show as unwatched now despite three goes now at refreshing yada yada yada. I’ll run this update and see what happens.

@ChuckPa - I am happy to report the update + refreshing all metadata + let it do its thing overnight was a success. Montana (the Linux box) is ready to go. I haven’t looked at the other 2 machines (about to leave for work), but should be OK as well.
