Inconsistent, intermittent buffering interrupts playback

Server Version#: latest
Player Version#: latest

Hello, all!

I have been trying to add Plex to my media playing flow at home, but it’s been hard. The main issue is that playback will suddenly stop and the “loading” spinning circle will turn up (which I assume is buffering) and the media simply no longer continues.

This is inconsistent and intermittent in the sense that it can happen with any media file and I can’t reproduce it. It seems to happen randomly and I can’t pin point the cause.

In my setup, Plex Media Server is installed on a Windows PC and the player is the LG TV Plex app, which is in the same network, both via Wi-Fi. Network speed is not a problem (100 Mbps) and neither is the CPU on the server (Intel i7).

All settings are set as default, including direct play whenever possible. I’ve tried fiddling with these settings at first but nothing helped.

I really like the theory of using Plex, but in practise I’m having a difficult time making it work for me. Can someone help me?

I have this issue too, I also have an LG TV, but running a Mac Server with Plex on it and a separate hard drive (which shows low network, CPU and plenty of memory available).

Server needs to be Ethernet connected.

In case that alone doesn’t fix then remember to include your debug logs: https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/
