I wasn’t sure where to post this so I’m hoping here is the correct subforum.
Using an alternative order from TVDB, all files are correctly labelled, but the order is displaying incorrectly in season 4, with one episode showing up twice, both times in the incorrect place. Happens on Windows and Android, and I believe Roku as well.

This is a weird one. Looks like you are trying to use the TVDB (Grades) ordering. I set this up in my Testing library. I’m seeing something a bit different. In my case, its mis-identifying the last four episodes. Schreech’s Spaghetti Sauce is missing and the last 3 episodes are off by one. Basically The Time Capsule is ending up as ep9 instead of ep10.
I did go through S4 and it looks like the external IDs are correct. I’m inclined to think this is something on the Plex backend.
I do not know how to do that myself, so I didn’t chime in. I figured it might be something like that, but waited until someone checked.
EDIT: Most of the following is incorrect - apparently. It certainly is news to me that Plex now supports more TheTVDB orderings. I seem to have missed an announcement on that. I had tested one show of mine, and saw Plex’s own UI only show the 3 episode orderings available. I had not refreshed it’s metadata, and didn’t likely test a show that had any other episode sorting available. I will leave the remainder of the post up for posterity.
Based on the OP’s screenshot of TheTVDB’s Grades numbering on TheTVDB, and that their season only has 10 episodes, and I can see they have at least a 5th season, this means they are attempting to use the “Grades” ordering, which Plex does not support. By default, Plex uses TMDB (Aired) (link to S04) ordering, so your file episodes better match that of online sources. If you wish to use TheTVDB (link to S04), you must edit the show to use the TheTVDB ordering instead. FYI, for TheTVDB, Plex only supports TheTVDB (Aired), TheTVDB (Absolute) or TheTVDB (DVD) order, so you must re-number your episode to match that of those schemes, not the grades scheme.
Let’s confirm a few things:
Plex supports all of the ordering options available on TVDB, not just aired, dvd or absolute. I believe they added in the last couple of years.

It does support the Grades ordering, as I selected it in Plex. It supports all alternative orders listed. Thanks for your input and trying to help, it is appreciated, but on this occasion you’re incorrect.
mkv files. No embedded metadata.
I’ve refreshed metadata each day for several days in a row.
Thanks for testing, yeah I’d done all I could think of to troubleshoot, rematched, checked each file for any embedded data, went through TVDB to ensure their data and numbering seemed correct, it’s been recently updated so I waited a good few days before posting here in the hope that it would update. Initially season 5 was showing no titles at all, but after a day and a metatdata refresh they all populated correctly. Just this weird issue with season 4. Sounds like the same issue you have, ep. 7, Screech’s Spaghetti Sauce is missing, 3 episodes are offset by 1 place, but for me an episode is repeated as no. 10.
Seems to be resolved as of the 16th.
