Incorrect partial metadata: Laid to Rest

This issue has been reported before (Plex Movie Agent Metadata is wrong), but I want to add some information that I found, which could be helpful in resolving this issue.

The issue: The movie Laid to Rest (2009), seems to be getting matched correctly, all metadata is correct (cast, summary, studio, etc), EXCEPT for the release date, for some reason this gets set as 2023-05-12.
Now, all external sources, list the correct release date, so it must have been mismatched from somewhere. The only reason I could currently see what is happening: on IMDB I see this short movie listed: Laid to Rest (Short 2023) - IMDb, a short with the same name, released in 2023.

I hope this adds some helpful information and this issue can be resolved, because this movie is now being listed in the ‘Recently released movies’ section, which is obviously very incorrect!

No, this has nothing to do with the short film.
The release dates on IMDb for this movie are all “specific” dates.
Only the Japanese release date is of the type “general availability”. So that is what is used by Plex, as the API of IMDb only divulges general availability.

Ok thank you OttoKerner, I was not aware of what release dates IMDb are made available through the API.
Good that my thought process was incorrect, that would have been a major issue with the linked of the metadata :sweat_smile:
The correct fix for this issue would be to adjust the general availability date on IMDb, I will attempt to do so (after looking up some proper guidelines about it).
