I’ve read IMDB, The Movie DB, and The TV DB. There are no current articles or info that I’ve been able to find that give the correct info as to where The Plex Movie Agent currently gets metadata for movies from.
I have a movie in my Library that has been there for quite a few years, that Plex is NOW showing as being released later this year (2023). The Movie was released in 2009.
When I try to do a Fix match it shows in the List as 2023. All of the info is the same but the date is wrong. Before anyone asks it’s titled on my server as “Laid To Rest (2009).mp4” again, it finds the correct movie however the date is wrong.
It’s not my server or my titling method. It’s listed wrong by the Plex Movie Agent. So where does it get its information?
Release date can be contained within the mp4 file format as embedded metadata.
Do you have “Prefer local metadata” enabled in the properties of this movie library? If yes, try disabling it, then Refresh Metadata of this movie again.
Yeah that’s what I did. I just wanted to see if there was a way I could fix it over all though. I contribute to The Movie DB, and The TV DB but that doesn’t seem to do anything on Plex anymore. I’m not sure why they’re being so secretive about there metadata source. It’s kind of ridiculous.
