I have just added my first TV series (Blackadder Goes Forth) following the Plex naming convention and this shows the files in my TV programmes library.
However the poster that appears from the TVDB is that from a previous series (Series Two I think). I have used the Fix Match option in Plex and selected ‘Blackadder Goes Forth’ from the list.
Updating appears to be happening but unfortunately the same poster is shown.
My file structure is:
Media/TV/Blackadder Goes Forth/Season 04
with episodes as eg
Blackadder Goes Forth - 4x06 - Goodbyeee.mp4
I am clearly missing something here but cannot seem to be able to get the Plex match to deliver the correct poster. I could add a jpg of my own but would rather like to understand what is happening with the auto-tagging in Plex.
If someone could please point me ion the right direction that would be much appreciated.
they do seem to have an incomplete show for “…Goes Forth” but does not seem to be any images for the show https://www.thetvdb.com/series/blackadder-goes-forth it might be grabbing the generic show poster for the other because of that.
the other thing it could be because it is an MP4 it is using an embedded poster. ( if that is the case then lower Local Media Assets in priority for the TVDB main agent in agent settings)
According to thetvdb.com, it is season 1 of Blackadder Goes Forth. Doesn’t really matter if that is a joke. The database PLEX is using to get it’s information thinks it is a new show. Assuming the title really is Goodbyeee
do you see any images there? TVDB is a public catalogue where any person can make a show in their database. ones that are actually correct get locked and only editable by moderators such as https://www.thetvdb.com/series/blackadder
Ones that random people on the internet make and usually fail to provide full or correct info for are not locked such as the link you are giving
The OP shows his media file path. HE put it in a folder with the wrong tv series name and is upset is pulled no graphics from a database that has no images for that wrong series entry.
Yea, that’s bogus - it’ll match, but it’s a road going nowhere.
Now so much has gone on, I would Plex Dance the whole show - using proper naming and structuring to match ‘the real’ Blackadder. May have to Fix Match anyway - with ‘wrong Blackadder’ gumming up the gears at TVDB.
true, but if it really is a blackadder episode, it needs to be labeled as such. PLEX doesn’t know jokes. Although it sometimes acts like one. Like when it matched a jazz group’s name to a Norwegian metal band.
BigWheel you are right about this being a mistake. I had explored the so called ‘Season 1’ option. You have been really helpful in clarifying that this is a public catalogue with sometimes incorrect information. Consequently newcomers like myself can get a bit lost in trying to solve a problem that really is not solvable.
In replying to tramp78 the series shown in TVDB 367808 is Blackadder Goes Forth so on that basis it is in the correct folder. Of course now that I am aware of the limitations of this data base I will not waste time on futile searches but simply copy in a jpg for missing posters.
TecknoJunky you have just provided more clarity so overall this has been really enlightening and I thank you all for this insight.
