Way to fix theTVDB matching directly in the data? which table?

Server Version#: 1.19.1.2645?
Player Version#:

Like others I’m having trouble with the matching either not recognizing the media even though the show exists on TheTVDB, or it pulls a weird nonmatching poster for the show.

Right now I’m trying to get the following recognized:

https://thetvdb.com/series/hornblower

The files and folders are as follows (I’ve tried a few variations):

E:\DuPlex\Video\TV\Hornblower\Season 01\Hornblower - S01E01 - The Even Chance.mp4
E:\DuPlex\Video\TV\Hornblower\Season 01\Hornblower - S01E02 - The Examination for Lieutenant.mp4
E:\DuPlex\Video\TV\Hornblower\Season 01\Hornblower - S01E03 - The Duchess and the Devil.mp4
E:\DuPlex\Video\TV\Hornblower\Season 01\Hornblower - S01E04 - The Frogs and the Lobsters.mp4
E:\DuPlex\Video\TV\Hornblower\Season 02\Hornblower - S02E01 - Mutiny.mp4
E:\DuPlex\Video\TV\Hornblower\Season 02\Hornblower - S02E02 - Retribution.mp4
E:\DuPlex\Video\TV\Hornblower\Season 03\Hornblower - S03E01 - Loyalty.mp4
E:\DuPlex\Video\TV\Hornblower\Season 03\Hornblower - S03E02 - Duty.mp4

I wondered if Plex stores the theTVDB Series ID somewhere that I could check/update manually.

Do this:

Then refresh metadata.

Your naming/structuring looks good - if you got the right show:
https://thetvdb.com/search?query=hornblower

We hope it’s just the embedded Title Fields (the bogus Title Fields) that are throwing off the match.

Appreciate the info. Sadly it didn’t help. I’m seeing other shows that aren’t able to grab info or metadata (or they matched wrong and searches return nothing if I try to fix the match).

I think something has gone wrong with Plex’s interface with the theTVDB api. I also tried pausing AV/security sheilds briefly to see if there was a problem connecting to the TVDB server, but it didn’t help.

Still, I’m sure this is good practice.

After that - here’s the standard hail mary…:

https://support.plex.tv/articles/202967376-clearing-plugin-channel-agent-http-caches/

Then in a last ditch effort to achieve excellence - Plex Dance all shows that are misbehaving - doing every step, in the order described - or it won’t work:

But before any of that - do start preparing some fresh logs by enabling debug and disabling verbose: Server/Settings/General

Those logs will be best if they log the action above - and any misbehavior of same. <— in case they’re called for in the near future.

After my last response, I gave up, but when I went back the next morning all the Hornblower media info had magically appeared. However I encountered some of the cacheing issues after I adjusted the timecode on a downloaded SRT file and then weirdly couldn’t get the subs to display on Roku (but they showed fine on the Android app). Tinkered with restarting PMS, moving the files out and ultimately had to wrap the mp4 & srt into an MKV and put it back to get the newly adjusted subtitles to work. Also notice that PMS seems to keep track of subs better in MKV after rw/ff than with a separate srt file.

Now I’m having a similar matching problem with Sharpe but wonder if it’s the apostrophe in the series naming convention:

E:\DuPlex\Video\TV\Sharpe\Season 01\Sharpe - S01E01 - Sharpe’s Rifles.mp4
E:\DuPlex\Video\TV\Sharpe\Season 01\Sharpe - S01E02 - Sharpe’s Eagle.mp4
E:\DuPlex\Video\TV\Sharpe\Season 02\Sharpe - S02E01 - Sharpe’s Company.mp4
E:\DuPlex\Video\TV\Sharpe\Season 02\Sharpe - S02E02 - Sharpe’s Enemy.mp4
E:\DuPlex\Video\TV\Sharpe\Season 02\Sharpe - S02E03 - Sharpe’s Honour.mp4

I tried removing the apostrophe but it didn’t work. And the automatic subtitle search isn’t working right now, perhaps due to the in-progress transition of opensubtitles.org to opensubtitles.com.

Anyway, thanks for your instructive posts. I’m not really sure what resolved the problem with Hornblower but they’ve helped me identify some problem areas I wasn’t aware of. If I can resolve Sharpe I’ll post a followup.

sound like you disabled LMA instead of just demoting it and we’ll need those log files now.
