Like others I’m having trouble with the matching either not recognizing the media even though the show exists on TheTVDB, or it pulls a weird nonmatching poster for the show.
Right now I’m trying to get the following recognized:
Appreciate the info. Sadly it didn’t help. I’m seeing other shows that aren’t able to grab info or metadata (or they matched wrong and searches return nothing if I try to fix the match).
I think something has gone wrong with Plex’s interface with the theTVDB api. I also tried pausing AV/security sheilds briefly to see if there was a problem connecting to the TVDB server, but it didn’t help.
Then in a last ditch effort to achieve excellence - Plex Dance all shows that are misbehaving - doing every step, in the order described - or it won’t work:
But before any of that - do start preparing some fresh logs by enabling debug and disabling verbose: Server/Settings/General
Those logs will be best if they log the action above - and any misbehavior of same. <— in case they’re called for in the near future.
After my last response, I gave up, but when I went back the next morning all the Hornblower media info had magically appeared. However I encountered some of the cacheing issues after I adjusted the timecode on a downloaded SRT file and then weirdly couldn’t get the subs to display on Roku (but they showed fine on the Android app). Tinkered with restarting PMS, moving the files out and ultimately had to wrap the mp4 & srt into an MKV and put it back to get the newly adjusted subtitles to work. Also notice that PMS seems to keep track of subs better in MKV after rw/ff than with a separate srt file.
Now I’m having a similar matching problem with Sharpe but wonder if it’s the apostrophe in the series naming convention:
I tried removing the apostrophe but it didn’t work. And the automatic subtitle search isn’t working right now, perhaps due to the in-progress transition of opensubtitles.org to opensubtitles.com.
Anyway, thanks for your instructive posts. I’m not really sure what resolved the problem with Hornblower but they’ve helped me identify some problem areas I wasn’t aware of. If I can resolve Sharpe I’ll post a followup.
