Indirect connection on same network

Unable to log directly from the tv.
The server connects indirectly but very slowly…
Will port forwarding help?
I mean, the external connection is very slow so why should it be different?

Is there another solution here?

In that case it might be more effective to dig into why Plex considers the devices to be remotely connected in the first place.

Common issues include:

  • different subnets
  • firewalls/security tools on your router or the PMS host blocking direct communication
  • server on Windows configured to treat the local network as a „Public Network“ (therefore applying additional restrictions to local connections)
  • using no regular private IP range for your home network (RFC 1918)

Thanks, Tom.
looks like I was able to solve this.
when entering ‘Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center\Media streaming options’ I noticed the pc was blocked from streaming media to anything it was connected to…
after allowing the media to be streamed Plex was finally able to be discovered as a local client.
