Once enabled, remote access will go green, then switch to red after a few seconds.
Local connections work fine. Only able to connect indirectly outside of LAN.
I have tried everything I have come across on the forums and Google.
Switching to Synology NAS from VMware VM (Fedora 30).
Remote Access worked fine on the VM.
Xfinity Gateway with Advanced Security disabled
DHCP reservation and manual port forward. No double NAT
Static IP set on Synology to match DHCP reservation.
Static DNS IPs set on Synology, matching default Comcast IPs (75.75.75.75…)
Remote access works, but only via indirect. I have a few friends who access my server via remote access. While they are watching I can see they are connected indirectly in the dashboard and limited to SD (2 MB/s) quality.
I have tried both DHCP and static IP, also Comcast DNS and Google DNS.
Remote access (direct) worked perfectly fine running on my VMware VM. Same network, same router/gateway. Same HDCP reservation system and port forward method.
The only different is the application platform. My old server was running on a VMware VM. My new server is running on Synology native application. Newest plex pass version directly from plex.tv.
Sorry for the delay, got busy and had to put this on the back burner.
Was at a friends house yesterday and he asked why he gets the indirect message now when streaming from my server. Reminded me to pick this back up.
Everything streams fine from my LAN, but remote access is always “indirect”
Even though “canyouseeme.org” reports an active connection on the port I have forwarded.
Ah sorry about that. I turned that off a while back. Just re-enabled it. Then disabled and enabled remote access. It will show green check mark for a few seconds, then switch to red X and stay there.
I think I figured it out. The firewall on my xFi gateway was set to minimal (default) with enables some kind of IDS function along with some basic port blocking. I disabled this and now am able to connect directly while remote. I don’t believe I had to make this change while running on my old server. Maybe Comcast switched on the IDS feature by default a while back.
