Check this out: I sometimes have to set my server to “insecure only” in order to get my Android TV Plex client to use http vs https (despite being set to “prefer insecure on local network”) so that I can watch high-bitrate content. When I have encryption on, I can’t watch higher-bitrate content (~80+Mbps) and the Plex Server doesn’t honor the setting in Android TV to prefer insecure on local network.
Im having the same issue also . it begin after upgrading two versions back ? Did plex make secure connections mandatory as switching to insecure resolves the issue ? Im wondering if its my firewall / rotuer - what port does plex require opened for secure connections ?
Try ‘Preferred’ instead of ‘Required’ or ‘Disabled’. Change the settings in the app(?)(any) to ‘Fallback to insecure on local network’. <—that normally resolves issues when the internet drops out.
If you’re speaking of Remote Access, 32400 locally, but the forwarded port can be whatever you like (in a range of numbers - I couldn’t quote if you held a gun to my head). I am using a non-standard forwarded port (at the high end of those mysterious numbers I forwarded back when I knew what the upper limit was…lol)
Security issues always require more advanced help than I can offer, but the settings above - when everything is signed in - keep things running well here.
