Insecure connections here we go again [HELP]

was actively looking through movies when all of a sudden This server went away…

other servers sill ok,

selected insecure, back to server ok…
selected secure server and lost connection.
this has started with web-client Version 4.12.2

last time clearing the browser data fixed it (was with different PMS servers that time)

tried the clear browser and had trouble logging back into Plex…
It failed a couple of times then worked.

then I got disconnect from this forum, tried to sign in and was at first denied.

something strange is going on…

still no access to that server, but I can access PMS directly and sign in with the embedded web client…

Hi. We just want you to know we haven’t gone anywhere…

I do like that!!!

they can’t go anywhere - they’re out of fuel, we don’t have any, and they get bored easily…lol

OH, … sounds like the Plex dev’s

Check this out: I sometimes have to set my server to “insecure only” in order to get my Android TV Plex client to use http vs https (despite being set to “prefer insecure on local network”) so that I can watch high-bitrate content. When I have encryption on, I can’t watch higher-bitrate content (~80+Mbps) and the Plex Server doesn’t honor the setting in Android TV to prefer insecure on local network.

It’s good times.

It’s not all my servers… right now just one so far… Plex any thoughts…

I think Plex PMS is starting to unravel with all the issues, and lack of responces.

now I have remote users who can’t access the servers, they are getting the same messages.

What browser are you using? Is it Firefox? There is some odd FireFox issue that is causing the lost of secure connections.

Yep I’m using Firefox,
My one remote user that reported it today was using Safari…

i have same issue now for insecure connections …

customer experience are being degraded now, @PMS please respond immediate rectification.

Im having the same issue also . it begin after upgrading two versions back ? Did plex make secure connections mandatory as switching to insecure resolves the issue ? Im wondering if its my firewall / rotuer - what port does plex require opened for secure connections ?

Try ‘Preferred’ instead of ‘Required’ or ‘Disabled’. Change the settings in the app(?)(any) to ‘Fallback to insecure on local network’. <—that normally resolves issues when the internet drops out.

If you’re speaking of Remote Access, 32400 locally, but the forwarded port can be whatever you like (in a range of numbers - I couldn’t quote if you held a gun to my head). I am using a non-standard forwarded port (at the high end of those mysterious numbers I forwarded back when I knew what the upper limit was…lol)

Security issues always require more advanced help than I can offer, but the settings above - when everything is signed in - keep things running well here.

I have the same problem. I can’t even access the server on the same machine flex is running on (ie https://127.0.0.1/ It’s infuriating.

Dont put the s in https, just use http.
