Install Plex Media Server on DS415play

Hi, I have a Synology 415play and try to install the “PlexMediaServer-1.41.0.8976-8d3b73150-x86_DSM7.spk” package.
I have the same problem and the notification: “This package is not supported on the platform of Diskstation or is incompatible with the current DSM version”.
The 415play only gets DSM 7.1.1 so far.
Does anyone know a solution?

I moved your post to a new thread. The previous one was marked solved. An open thread will get more eyeballs on it.

Which version of PMS is currently installed?

Thanks for moving to a new thread.
Version 1.40.5.8854 is currently installed.

Edit: Pinged Plex team. Will let you know when I hear back.

You’re pulling the correct file, DSM 7, Intel 32-bit.

Let me check…

Can you install 1.40.5.8921, the current public release (release notes)?

Wondering if it is similarly affected.

I just tried it and it worked without any problems. No problem with Version 1.40.5.8921.
There seems to be a problem with the beta version of the package.

Thanks for the verification.

I think this could be the same, extracting the packages and the info file within show:

1.40.5.8921:
arch=“x86 evansport”

1.41.0.8976:
arch=“x86”

evansport I am sure is used by the ds415play

Yes.

Looks like evansport architecture was left out of current beta build.

@Minjor

Plex made some changes based on communication from Synology.

This has resulted in issues for some CPU architectures.

The problem will be fixed in a future beta release.

Stay in the public release for now.

Thank you for the information. I’ll stay with the current version for now and just test the next beta again. Now I know what I have to pay attention to.

Plex released v.1.41.0.8988 earlier today. Release Notes.

It should install on the DS415play.

If this happens in the future, here’s how to check:

The DS415play has an Intel Atom CE5335 CPU, built upon Intel’s Evansport architecture. Reference: What kind of CPU does my Synology NAS have?

After downloading the Plex Media Server spk from plex.tv, uncompress it using 7-Zip or similar tools.

In the directory, there is an INFO file. Open it with a text editor. Look for the entry arch="x86 evansport". In the beta that would not install, it said arch="x86". “evansport” is present in the beta released earlier today.
