I have set up a plex media server on this computer before, but am just dusting it off because it’s been a while since I’ve used this computer and I had uninstalled Plex at some point because it didn’t work well with the bad wifi I had at my parent’s home.
Anyways, I created a new account today and have been trying to get the media server setup for an hour or two at this point even though I remember this going pretty seamlessly the first time I did it.
I downloaded the latest plex media server, installed it, and when I right click it in my task bar to open the program it greets me with a page telling me to download the Plex Media server because no servers can be detected, despite the media server running on this very same computer and me having just opened it. I’ve tried reinstalling several times which I didn’t have high hopes for and has not given myself any results or made any progress. I’m running Windows 7 x64 and I’m just a bit frustrated at this point because I remember seamlessly being able to set this up prior to this installation, but now it’s so complicated all of a sudden. I haven’t been able to get past this point and a setup wizard has never launched, I’m just constantly being told I don’t have a plex media server when I clearly do, does anyone have any sort of idea what the issue is here? Needless to say that since it’s on the same computer that it is on the same wifi network. Thanks!
