Just installed Plex Server on the Netgear ReadyNas102 and it reports This server is unclaimed and not secure
Claiming this server will associate it with your Plex account.
Tried “Claiming” it with no sucsess. Reboot NAS, still can’t claim it. Where to from here? Seems to be an issue also with logging in…
Posted for some help and got none. Any info on making plex media server work on a Netgear Readynas102 would really be great. So far it just will not work. Installed it from the plex site and it installed ok, but says it is not claimed. Tried to claim but it just doesn’t claim…
Thanks for that. Sorry about the hijack… Read the article below, doesn’t help. I am logged in and even try to log in with same credentials on my smart TV and it cannot find the Plex Media Server… No idea where to from here.
Thanks Tom, this is what i am getting. Plex server is running on my ReadyNAS102, I log into my NAS and check the plex media server is running, Version 1.18.4.2171, I go to launch from within the NAS, This is the link http://192.168.0.14:32400/web/index.html as my nas has an IP of 192.168.0.14. The media server comes up with a ! next to its name. I click on it and this is the message, 3TPlexMediaServer server is unclaimed and not secure
Claiming this server will associate it with your Plex account. This helps your devices find each other and helps keep your media safe.
I click on claim it and it brings up the general page with the claim server button, at the top right of the page it shows I am logged in, I click the claim server button and the claim server button circle spins for quite a while before returning to the same button, ie, claim server. Also, I have since this problem, installed the windows version of the Plex Media Server on my PC and it works 100% and I can access it from my smart TV.
Let’s download the logs from your Plex Media Server after attempting to claim the server.
You can download those from Settings > Manage > Troubleshooting > Download Logs. This will give you a zip-file that contains a file called Plex Media Server.log.
Can you check if that file contains one of the errors described in this support article?
It looks like the Plex Media Server app cannot connect to plex.tv to claim your server.
Does the netgear device have some firewalls or blockers that prevent the server from “calling home”?

No, it is just a plain storage device… But, interestingly, when I check for updates to the NAS firmware, it reports a connection timeout? Maybe the NAS has some sort of internet connection problems. I know the firmware updates from within the NAS used to work. I will investigate that and get back to you. Thanks for your help…
