Issues with Claiming Netgear Plex Server

Hi. I’ve had Plex running on my Windows PC without and problems and I’m looking to move the server functionality to my Netgear ReadyNas because it is always on. It installed fine (latest version) and it running ok on the NAS.

When I launch Plex, I get a notification “MyNAS server is unclaimed and not secure”. I select “Claim it Now” then “Claim Server” but the timer just appears but nothing happens. Everything was restarted after setup.

Any suggestions??

I’m experiencing the exact same thing right now on a NAS that was running PLEX fine for weeks.

I updated it because after the outage a few days ago (the one PLEX keeps mentioning has completely been fixed, but it has gotten a lot of people with broken servers to this day).

I logged out and tried to claim the server again, but can no longer claim it because it just keeps loading forever.

Status.plex.com says everything is running fine while it obviously isn’t.

Hi. Sorry for the delay - I needed to figure out how to get the logs from the NAS.

Started up the NAS, Plex not running.
Started Plex and launched Plex Media Server from shortcut.
From Webapp, attempted to claim, but it failed.

What IP Address is your NAS DNS set to?

And regardless, it’s either a slow DNS server, or a bad one.

Try and set your DNS to use Google (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and then restart your NAS

What do you mean that I cannot have a static entry to a name server that was an old router that I haven’t used in years?? :rofl:

Noticed that the time was well off as well. Set the entries to Google like you said and also set to their time server. All working a treat now.

And please, if DNS was set to your router, what was the Router DNS set to?

The router is actually fine - it was the previous one that I had the static entry for.

Thanks again. Just building the library now. It’s very slow in the NAS compared to the PC!
