Installed PMS on QNAP, but keeps looking for servers

Server Version#: PlexMediaServer_1.14.1.5488-cc260c476_x86_64.qpkg
QNAP: TVS-871
Player Version#: IOS app Plex 5.9.1
Desktop: OSX Mohave 10.14.1 with Safari Version 12.0.1 (14606.2.104.1.1)

I’ve manually installed the qpkg and I can reach the webinterface through http://ip-address:32400/web. I log in and in the top left corner it says:

“looking for servers … A server could not be found. Download and install Plex Media Server, and it will appear here.”.

Well I installed PMS but nothing shows up. The QNAP and the client (desktop and IOS app) are in the same network. What am I missing?

I allow all connections to QNAP and there is no Network Access Protection enabled.

ps. I’ve previously installed a PMS version on a OSX Mac Mini which was working perfectly for a couple of years but the machine crashed and I’m now trying to move this function to my QNAP.

Are you on the same IP Net as the QNAP, and is that private address space?

the setup is the same as I previously had with PMS on the Mac Mini but instead of the Mac I’ve installed PMS on the QNAP.

Ran the script and connected through the browser to my QNAP. It now showed the whole setup screen. Added my libraries and all is well.

What a life saver! I spent hours trying to get PMS on my QNAP activated. I have another server already linked to my account and it refused to link a new one. Logging into QNAP PMS would just show the linked servers with no option to claim. Thanks so much.
