Instant Crash

Most current beta version. App crashes instantly when chosing anything from music library. Issue doesn’t exist with non beta app.

I’ve been having the same issue on Google Pixel.

Yes, I’m getting that too.

Here’s the java stacktrace for it

I am also having consistent crashes when I try to pick a musical artist through the library or through search. If I search for an album that will get me there and I can play tracks then without incident. Artist pages seem to be the main issue for me.

It happen again in the 22 of November release.

I’m getting the same issue with playing synced content - as soon as I press play on a music track the music starts and within a second android reports ‘Plex has stopped’ and do you want to ‘restart or report’. I have installed a fresh version of the app, re-synced content at different bit-rates, restarted and even scanned the SD card for errors (none reported) and it still happening.

Also found it happening is I add content to a queue and then try and view the queued tracks - app crashes. This is happening on network content playback - as can’t even play synced content!

Running android 7.1.1 - device logs are attached.

@antoniolg @“MovieFan.Plex” are you guys aware play back is broken again?

Same issue. Only happens with synced content for me. Streaming still works. When “prefer synced version” is set and I try to “stream” a title which is also available locally it also crashes.

HTC10 with Nougat 7.0

Update: It also happens with remote content, but not instantly. Looks like it happened right when I lost data connection for a moment…

Steps to reproduce: Select any remote song for playback. Wait till it starts playing. Enable flight mode. Wait for the buffer to run empty and receive a crash.

Thanks for reporting and the additional information, very useful! We will release a new beta with the fixes soon.

Everything seems to be work playback wise - any chance you can fix the artwork issue with on synced items as it now been 12months? Cheers

@romancamelia - just so you’re aware, the app is still crashing when scrolling the queue for both me and partners phones. Android 7.1.1.

@4Meadway Thanks!
Please try 6.12.0.3136-beta version. The scrolling issue should be fixed!

Just became beta tester.
The app starts and crashes immediately. I do see it starting to paint what would be the screen and then crash.
I have tried force stopping, same thing.
Also, even after the final force install, I keep seeing crash messages. I may have to uninstall and depend on this post for when you want me to try something else or new code.
I can run adb, I just need to know what commands you want/need.

Installed app is 6.14.1.3740
Android version 7.0

FYI, just updated 6.14.1.3749, same issue.
Instead of adding post, I will update this with each build I test.
6.14.1.3753, same issue.

@penright Hey there! would you mind checking it again? We’ve launched a couple of new beta since your last post so it would be nice to know if they work fine for you

Thanks!

Sorry, missed the fact that there was updates.
Version 6.15.0.3828 Still Crashes. Any logs I can help with? I see the page for about a second and then crash. I did send a crash report.
Also I can connect ADB, if you are logging anything, just tell me the filter.

FYI, Version 6.15.0.3852 Still Crashes.

Had an update to OS. Looks like the only difference is security patch date.
I may need to give up the beata till get closer. I need to play some music

Went back to 6.14.1.3753 and it loads without crashing.
Looking back at my first post (2/28/2018), this is newer than the one that crashed “Installed app is 6.14.1.3740”
I don’t get it?
All I did is “leave the program”, uninstalled, downloaded the app.
SO… that got me thinking. I went back to beta. uninstall, downloaded the app. It worked, but after checking it was still 6.14.
SO… I uninstalled, downloaded the app, checked, I was back to 6.15.xxx and it now works.
Not sure if uninstalling clear the cache or that it caused me to re-log on. either way I did play a video.
My current version is 6.15.0.3852 and it did load.
