Version: 6.3.0.1090 (b0508f15)
This is a consistent reproducible bug, and I have logs ready in case someone needs them.
After a network change (WiFi to cellular, or vice versa), starting a music stream causes the app to crash and I get a “Plex Has Stopped; Restart App or Send Feedback” option. This has only started on the current beta build listed above. Happens on a S8 and a S8+ and on a Tab S2 tablet.
Let me know if I can be of more help! As mentioned, should you need some logs, I have them.
Is it only with music playback? I have movies/tv shows and no issues, but I do not use Plex for music so I have never tested that function.

I believe it is music only, but it could be “Playlist” related now that I think about it. I do not personally use Playlists for video so it could occur.
I just threw up some music on my Plex server, then did the following:
Played a song when connected to wifi.
Closed Plex app completely, disabled wifi and switched to mobile data.
Played a song on mobile connection.
I didn’t have any crashes of the app. I’ll try keeping the Plex app active when I make the switch and see if I can get it to crash.
I kept the app active and switched connections during playback, stopped the playback and initiated it again, but I can’t get the app to crash. Let me know if you can only get it to crash when using a playlist.

It must be Playlist related then, as I “only” go to Playlists to play music (never really hunt down specific songs).

Yes, just tested, and it is indeed Playlist only.
How are you creating the playlists? I’ll follow your instructions and see if I can get it to crash the app.

Gosh, I am not sure! It’s been so long, and I wish I knew how. It is a “Smart” Playlist in that songs only 3+ stars, 4+ stars, or 5 stars are automatically loaded in. I created them years ago and have forgotten how I did that. There is no “+ playlist” option under Playlists and have not cared enough to make a new one to research how to make one again.

By habit, I realized I am closing the app. See if that triggers it on yours?
- Start a song on WiFi (via Playlist)
- Pause the song
- Close the app
- Turn WiFi off
- Open the app
- Select “Shuffle Playlist”
- It’ll try to start and the close (on my devices)
Essentially, the real world situation is when I get in my car to drive away, I will go to Shuffle Playlist and it force closes. Never happened until the current build (updated Friday, I believe). So, there could be hours or even the next day before I would be pressing “Shuffle” again.
Ok, I made a playlist from an album I loaded on my Plex server. Selecting that playlist and playing music, even when switching back and forth between connections, doesn’t crash the app. Can you list the steps you take to make it crash?

Are you also killing the paused playback (the Plex icon is visible in my taskbar at the top of the phone even when I close the Plex app)?

No, that did occur once though (yesterday). Results are the same. I think it’s a particular Playlist now though. Didn’t do it on a different playlist (I normally only use the same Playlist).
I still can’t get the app to crash. I paused the playback, switched to mobile, opened the app, selected the playlist and shuffled it, but it happily plays the song.
I know you believe me, but this is the error:

Are these songs synced to your device? I am playing from the server, maybe that’s the difference?
Can you make a video of the entire process, from opening the app while on wifi all the way through to the crash? I want to make sure I am following the exact same steps you are. Also, have you tried making a new playlist? Since I have no older playlists, just a brand new one, maybe that’s part of the problem that I can’t replicate.

I know this is off topic, but do you know how to do a new Smart playlist? Say, any song “not listened to” or “rating related” so I can make a new one?
