Integrated Intel Arc Graphics for transcoding?

Hi,

My small factor PC is getting pretty old, and I cannot upgrade to Windows11. I can force it, but I don’t want the problems that could come with it.

So, I’m looking to get a small NUC, these are the specs; will be installing 32gb of ram and 1 1Tb nvme drive to that barebone system.

My only concern is that Integrated Intel Arc Graphics, for the love of God I cannot find anything about it. Is it good for transcoding? Is the better than Intel Iris ?

Thanks

Actually, the part responsible for video transcoding is “QuickSync”.
According to Intel, it is part of this CPU. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/236847/intel-core-ultra-7-processor-155h-24m-cache-up-to-4-80-ghz/specifications.html
If you actually use Windows, I don’t think you will get any difficulties.
(It might look different in this regard, should you consider switching to Linux.)

But in a device that small, I have serious doubts that you will get the full power out of this CPU. Today’s CPU’s are throttling themselves according to the specifications in the computer BIOS, as well as according to how effective the cooling system of the machine works.

So, while it might work just fine as Plex server, I wouldn’t expect it to handle multiple UHD Bluray rips in transcode mode and tone mapping.
