Intel NUC NUC7i7BNH, cannot connect to windows, PMS still alive, FAN goes max speed

Server Version#: 1.18.8.2468
Player Version#: Nvidia Shield TV 2019
PMS Server role only: Intel NUC NUC7i7BNH (Windows 10 Home, 8GB Ram, Intel Core i7-7567U CPU @ 3.50GHz, 256GB SSD, Intel® Iris® Plus Graphics 650)
Media storage: Synology NAS, DS1515+, 19TB

Issue: at random moment in time, can be daily, weekly but with no specific pattern event, the nuc Plex dashboard System process goes steady flat at 20%, with Plex Media Server near at 0% when idle. From that point in time, PMS is still functional, aka you can stream, transcode and navigate remotely with web GUI but… you can’t connect remotely (Viewer, vim) to server and you must power off the server to recover windows remote access. Screen stay black. Typical use is Direct play from home with few friends playing remotely, 2 max at same time, remote play (hence with transcoding) is working well when HW transcoding is off but this is another story…

Thanks

no logs not much to help with, but sounds more like a windows problem than a plex problem.

I would suggest attaching a monitor so you can watch physically what happens.

Also, a monitor or hdmi dummy plug is recommended for HW transcoding.

Using RDP without a dummy plug can also screw up HW transcoding.
