As the title says: Windows 10 machine running plex. Internet has been down two days. Yesterday I could access plex for local network playback from a separate device. Today I cannot. I mstsc onto the server, do a reboot just in case, reconnect, browse to the local plex page and it said
I have also noticed that to access Plex locally, an internet connection is still needed. This can be frustrating, especially if people aren’t able to access an internet connection for a certain period of time, but still want to watch their media via Plex locally. Should there not be an 'offline mode to access Plex locally?
An interesting video and set up, thanks to both answers:)
It although seems like a complex process, and to gather the devices needed to configure a local server…
I wonder if this is something that the Plex staff have discussed in introducing as a feature? It’s quite a vital element of running a Plex server really… as if the internet goes down, how does one continue watching their local media?
I would also very much like some kind of simple offline mode switch for Plex Media Server. I have an WD My Passort Wireless Pro, which Plex advertised a few years ago.
What’s the point with a PORTABLE media server, when it always requires internet?
I’ve been a plex user for many years. Access without internet has always worked in the past until the last few months. Not sure when it stopped cuz I’m usually connected but about a month ago when I was out of town, I noticed that I couldn’t connect to my portable laptop I had with me that was running a server. Thats why Im here today. To find out whats going on…
