Inviting friends to share libraries

I read all the steps on how to do this. You need to include for the owner of the library what the user he is inviting sees on their end. Most of the time the people I invite never even heard of plex and the process is not that simple. When they get the invite and hit accept they are then asked to login with their password - What password? Are you saying that friend should have already set up a plex account for themselves and login with that user name and password? If you are, you should make that clear. I been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why I can’t share libraries with my friends and family. In fact I’m not even sure if I’m correct. please someone respond.

To share Plex with another person, there are two different methods.

  1. invite another user:
    a) this method requires the invitee to have a plex user account (and password), this method can be use to share with other plex users.

  2. home account
    a) this method does not require a separate user account, however you can only be a member of one home account and the main user or administrator must have Plex pass.

On that same screen there should be a link to create an account

yes. They say the link is there but it does not tell them to create an account it just says to sign in - which is confusing.

i agree with @kamikazi0495 it should take them to a split page that has create an account on one side and sign in on the other side. That way they know…oh, i don’t have an account so let me create one or …oh, i have an account, let me sign in. That would be more helpful.
