I sent an invitation to a friend (he has a Plex Pass, but it should not matter), but once he accepted, his account was added to the home login screen. I do not need him to be displayed on the home login screen, so I went to the Users page and removed this user from Home (there were two options: one to delete the user and another to remove user from Home, so I assumed the Home removal would give him access to my libraries but not display his login on my Home screen). Now the user is gone and I am not sure if he lost access to my libraries and I’d need to send him another invitation. If he still has access to the libraries, how do I manage the user’s permissions (say, I want to restrict access to a subset of my libraries)?
In short, what is the correct way to give an existing (not managed) Plex user access to specific libraries and be able to manage this access after the user accepts the invitation? Thanks.
You probably invited him the wrong way. Never create an invitation from the ‘Home Users’ page if the invitee shall not join your Plex Home.
If you invited the user directly into your Home, he left your server completely after you ousted him from your Home. (At least I think so, send me the user name per PM, so I can have this verified. Come to think about it, you can check yourself by looking for his name under ‘Sharing’).
Be prepared: if the invited user had a Plex Home of his own, he destroyed it by joining your home. (There is a warning displayed in the Join dialog, but you know how it is…)
Never mind. I found it: it’s under Sharing. I wish there were a hint under the Users to check sharing, since Users is the most obvious place to add people. I totally missed the Sharing link.
