It would appear 7.1 beta has been seeded to developers and there is beta for AppleTV (6.1). I don't suppose anyone has tried PlexConnect with it yet? I know, I know, a tiny bit early to ask.
I would give it a shot but unfortunately I'm not in a position to try it right now.
Someone on this beta can you post a screen shot of your about this on your apple tv or post the info on that page on your atv here? Im looking to spoof my atv2 but I need the details to do so.
So far I have this but I need more strings to put in all the correct info:
11D5099e
6.1
I think I need this cfbundlesourceversion corrected in order to get it spoofed properly:
You have to separate firmware updates from addition of new channels:
A firmware update like the new iOS 7.1 beta need to be downloaded from Apple's servers and then to be installed by the user to update the Apple TV's OS. It offers new and/or improved functionalities to the box. This kind of updates is blocked by PlexConnect. The new iOS 7.1 beta is knows to "improves mirror content of an iPad to an Apple TV using AirPlay"
New channels on Apple TV don't need a firmware update and cannot be blocked. Apple just has to update the remotely located homepage for Apple TV. That's the reason you see "iTunes Festival", "Apple Events" & other channels appearing on your Apple TV's homepage even if PlexConnect is blocking any firmware update from Apple. That is also the reason why PlexConnect suddenly stopped working after Apple's update in the Trailer channel.
So even with Firmware updated disabled on PlexConnect, Apple still can break it if they desire?
If so scary stuff, this really is a great app.
They can make SPECIFIC changes without a firmware update eg they changed from using http to https, which broken PkexConnect.
They are limits to what can be done without users updating.
