What’s stopping you from upgrading your server?
The issue with the WD MyCloud Home was that users can’t manually install a version that isn’t in their app store. DSM however has an option to manually install the current release of PMS if their repository lags behind (as they frequently do).
Just make sure to pick the correct package for your installation of DSM
Usually, the update info on Plex Web (Settings > [Server Name] > General) will have a Direct Link to the right version of DSM and your server’s architecture (e.g. Intel, ARM…).
Same issue on my Android. I uninstalled Plex from the PC the server is on. Then I went to the Plex.tv website and downloaded the latest version (I was several versions behind, so I figured I’d just wipe Plex and start new with the latest). I uninstalled Plex on my Android. Reinstalled it. Now it says it doesn’t see any libraries at all. I guess that’s an improvement? EDIT: Gave it about 10 minutes and all my libraries are present and updated.
I can use the Plex app from my Android now..
Hope that helps
This is extremely infuriating. I’m also getting the “Server is Outdated” message. Both my iPad and iPhone Plex apps return errors saying I must be running 1.41.2 on my server and I’m running 1.41.8.9834 which is the latest. iPad and iOS apps are the latest (2025.18.0)
What the actual hell? I have the logs. Does anybody even give a crap? I might be able to go back down to an older working version of the server, but I can’t do that on iOS so it doesn’t help.
It’s pretty incredible that basic functioning stuff just plain doesn’t work for months on end. Nobody monitors the forums, and there is no way to file a bug ticket.
Looking into it but I don’t see anything related in logs and waiting to hear from some others about it. I do see you do have access to a friends server that is a too low version but it should still connect to yours obviously.
Same problem as others - suddenly my iPhone and iPad (all fully updated) cannot see my local library because the “server is outdated”. In fact the server (on an Ubuntu 24.02 machine) is fully updated and current. I uninstalled and reinstalled the iOS apps, signed out and back in, reconfigured the Linux installation, reset the server’s remote access settings - nothing works. Plex on the Linux box itself works just fine, so the media server is apparently functioning correctly. All devices are on the same local network (public network does not have access). Does anyone have a solid suggestion?
This is totally crazy, but after months of this problem is suddenly went away. The only things I’ve done in the past few days:
I used the “Browse All Libraries” workaround to get to my movies
I downloaded several movies ahead of a flight
I have no idea if that fixed the problem, but now at least it’s not happening to me. For the sake of everyone else having this problem, I hope someone can figure this out.
Also of note: The problem has also been fixed on my iPhone and I haven’t done anything with my phone. So something changed on the Plex server. Also to note, my AppleTV has worked this entire time. It’s very odd and elusive.
