iOS app says "Server is Outdated" despite being current

Just updated the iOS app to the new experience, and it doesn’t work. When I go to the Libraries tab, I get a message that the Server is Outdated and I need to update to version 1.41.2 or newer. My server is 1.41.6.9606 (which I think should meet that requirement), and doesn’t show any available updates when I click “check for updates”.

I’ve deleted and reinstalled the iOS app, but not sure what to do next.

Server Version#: 1.41.6.9606
Player Version#: 2025.10.1 (970)

Does this persist if you force-quit and restart the app?

It happen to me last night then this morning was fixed. I don’t know how, or why, and plan to check it again tonight.

Same issue. Latest iOS app, server 1.41.5.9522. App says has to be at least 1.41.2… When I click on “show all libraries” though, it actually shows my libraries. Weird

still persists. Latest app version, latest beta for Synology (v.1.41.6.9606-aa6577194). Error shows on iPhone and iPad. Deleted / reinstalled apps, does not change anything.

This is really annoying, it’s basically close to unusable now.

Same issue to me
I am using plex media server installed on WD My Home Cloud, and its version is 1.40.4.8679.
Should I wait for an update to my plex server from WD in order to use the iOS application normal?
Or is there any advice to fix this issue.

PMS 1.40.4 was released in summer last year.
The latest public release is 1.41.5

You might want to upgrade that. If there’s no automatic update because WD are behind, you might need to manually install the current version.

I cannot update plex media server automatically and I need to know how can I do it manually knowing that it’s installed on WD my home cloud

I don’t have a WD MyCloud Home to verify.
Here’s a post describing how the update should work

Thanks for the information but this applies only for wd my cloud ex2 ultra and not for wd my cloud home. I don’t know neither how to update to the last plex media server version.

Same to me.
We need support from Plex experts

Same for me, it seems it is not possible to manually update firmware on a My Cloud Home device so it is now unusable for Plex. A real shame

I have the same problem. I cannot access the server with the Plex app on my new ipad (iOS18.5). My other iOS clients (with older iOS), LG app, Windows app etc. still work fine. I cannot successfully update PMS on Qnap since version 1.40.2 (see post: Updates since 1.40.2.8395 do not work. Connection error. Clients cannot find server - #2 by todd_kingdon)… I tried it again this morning, same problem.
If the new Plex client insists on a new PMS version (1.141.5+), the setup will be unusable for me. What a shame!

Any update from Plex experts to support us in this issue. We cannot update our PMS server manually and we need an advice to fix this issue.
It is not normal to simply go and replace our WD My Cloud Home and buy new cloud storage device.
Appreciate to hear a good news for updating PMS on our devices soon.

There’s currently a few threads on this issue.
From what I understand, Plex are providing their releases to WD who publish them into their ecosystem — so much for the theory.

Not sure what’s blocking this. Plex seem to have reached out to WD but I’m not aware of any details in that conversation (or if there’s even a reaction).
:see_no_evil_monkey:

Sorry, I know this isn’t particularly helpful.
Things like this were part of my personal decision not to run my server on a platform with such a dependency. Again… I’m aware that’s not helping in your cases :worried:

The PMS on my WD My Cloud Home has been updated finally and now I can use the new Plex Application on iOS

Following…there seems to be zero fix for the issue. I exclusively used Plex for mobile, now it’s basically rendered useless.

got the same issue here - on android AND iOS devices…but not every device seems2be ‘locked’…

What version of PMS are you using and what version of the Plex for Android/iOS clients?
WD have published a newer version of PMS that’s capable to be used with the current versions of the mobile clients.

using plex on my synlogogy NAS, version 1.40.4.8840-72008840
devices
→ pixel 8 pro, working fine without issues
→ pixel 8, doesnt work and has issues (error shown)
→ iPhone 15, doesnt work and has issues (error shown)

both devices with issues can use the browser instead of app…the only workaround…
