iOS Chromecast - when casting, volume buttons attempt to control even when app is not in foreground

As the title states, having a problem with the iOS app where when I cast to a Chromecast device, the physical volume buttons stay mapped to the app even when the app is not active. This is an annoyance because I need to change the volume on my phone itself, not on my Chromecast output.

Expected behavior: when the app is not in focus, volume buttons should not be sent to the app
