Server "currently unavailable" - but I not really?

Remote access has problems. It says “server unavailable”, but server is running fine and;

“Home” tab has a couple of TV- Shows under “Continue watching”.
“Watchlist” is works fine, plays stuff quick and smooth
…but “Movies” and “Tv Shows” claim server is unavailable

I can go via “Continue watching” and get access to related shows/movies on my server and everything works just fine - so I do have connection with my server.

However - Movies and TV Shows claim my server is unavailable and want me to “retry Connection”.

Why does it claim I have no connection, when I obviously have access and can play stuff? Why doesnt it work properly?

I have tried to delete and re.install server and app.

You’ll need to supply some additional information.

Which Plex client are you using?

Monitor the stream via Plex Dashboard + Expanded View. Is is Indirect? If so, you’re connecting via Plex Relay.

Are you using a custom access URL (Settings → Network)?

Are you connecting to the public IP address of your server (Plex Web and some apps)?

If you are using manual port forwarding, disabling remote access in Settings → Remote Access does not shut down the port. It only unregisters your system with plex.tv. It is still possible to connect directly to the public IP address of your server.

I have trouble with the iOS app.
I also run a WebOS app on the tv, which works just fine.

When I play the stuff available, it is a direct play.
No custom access.
No manual port forwarding. Server says Remote access is green. (permanent, not the “fake” green which go away after a short time.)

Edit:
I tested it locally on the same wifi network as the server is on. I also tried to access it through mobile data - and works the same. Direct play, but the app only show a few shows - and says “xxx is currently unavailable” when I try to access movies/tv shows,

So not a problem with remote access, but a problem with the Plex iOS app, correct?

I’ve no iOS devices, so cannot replicate your issues.

On Android devices there is an option in the OS to force stop the app, then clear cache and data. If that is available on iOS you might try the same.

You might also try deleting the app, rebooting the device, then re-installing the app.

I installed the iOS app on my wifes phone and set up a new user for her.

Worked fine - but the library is still empty.
It does connect to my server, but shows no content.

So, yes - seem to be some iOS issues with my server. :-/

What’s weird is, as long as I click in on one of the two available shows under “Continue watching” - I have full access to browse more movies by actor or “similar” - and have access to the whole library.

it just doesn’t want to show any under Movies or TV Shows - here it just saying no server available.

Thank you for the help so far… at least we have limited it to iOS app issues.

Might have to try do something with my server, reset/re-install? Is it possible to set up a new fresh server on my account, or do I have to delete the old one?

What now!?

I tried a fresh server on a backup computer - and this came up functional.
So - I figured I could remove the current (faulty) server and start from scratch.

Easier said than done!!

I remove the old server, both from my computer (uninstall and delete folder), windows registry and in the plex settings (remove), but when I install plex server again, an identical server popus up again, same library and name. It is impossible to start from scratch for me.

What am I doing wrong? Why cant I kill this zombie server?
