Using iPad as a Remote for Plex

I’m a newbie to Plex, so apologize if this is dumb question. I just installed Plex Media Server on an iMac, and am testing TIDAl. It works great if I make selections from my iMac, but I’d like to use my iPad as a remote to select tunes that play from the Plex Media Server (i.e., NOT play the tunes on my iPad). I set up the Plex app on my iPad, but that just plays the tunes on my iPad, not through the Plex Media Server iMac.

So… is there a way to set up the iPad as just a remote controller for the Plex Media Server iMac?

Thanks much!
DK

I don’t have apple products but from my phone in Plex I can click my avatar icon and there is a “remote” option and you can select a player to control…

The feature is called Plex Companion. You’re controlling the Plex Client that is playing the movie/music/etc, not the server.

If you are playing the music on your iMac, you would be controlling either Plex Media Player or Plex Web from your iPad.
