I recently paid for a lifetime Plex Pass so I could sync movies on my kiddos Ipads for a road as I have done in the past. Downloads just spins for hours and errors out. After a quick search it seems lots of people are having the same issue since the did away with “sync” for “download”. Please get this fixed Plex or I will be asking for a refund.
FWIW its worth I’m having a similar issue. The behaviour on my iPad (which is plugged directly via USB-C into my Mac Mini server and gets a download speed of 300mbs for optimised media) is that anything involving a queue causes trouble. If I for example select to download an optimised TV Series in one go, it will get the first episode, but then increasingly struggle with subsequent episodes - it downloads the same episode over and over (watching the progress in the dashboard). If I kill the iOS plex app and immediately restart it the server moves onto the next file, but the prior episode it was cycling on is on the iPad and works just fine. Its like it doesn’t get a ‘close’ on the file being downloaded so tries again and again on the same file, sometimes failing and sometimes not. The behaviour is no different on wifi, just slower and therefore harder to test. I can get the same behaviour with movies if I click on more than the server can download at once (2), then it repeats itself, but so far I’ve not pushed my luck to see how bad it gets.
