I have a linux host running the Plex server in the same subnet as my iPad Plex client and the iPad client just won’t connect to the server. I have several other iOS Plex clients (running the same version of Plex and iOS) which work just fine with the same server.
There is nothing which should be fussy about the network configuration. Plex is installed directly on the linux host, not in a docker container, and the wireless and wired networks are bridged (same subnet). I have run a packet capture on the server when the client it launched and I don’t even see traffic from the iPad client on the server IP.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the iOS app several times, and logged out of plex and back in. I can see in my API return from plex.tv/api… that my account is returning the correct server IPs.
These two lines in the client debug seem like they may be relevant, but no documentation I could find references the error message:

I have a feeling this may be the iOS local network setting “Allow Plex to Access:” “Local Network” but I have verified that the setting is enabled. I have also disabled and re-enabled the setting. I never did get the in-app prompt that this document tells me to expect.
I am out of ideas and leads to follow. I’d appreciate any assistance that could be offered.
I believe that’s an OS issue. In the main iOS settings, find the Plex app setting near the bottom of the list. On the right there is a setting for “Local Network”. Make sure this is enabled.
I also suspect that setting, but I have disabled and re-enabled the local network toggle several times, including force quitting the Plex app between settings changes with no difference in behavior.
Is the suggestion that it is an iOS bug where the setting is ineffective?
The iPad is new to the house and is the only device where the Plex app was first installed under iOS 16, if that is of any consequence.
An interesting extra piece of data:
Out of curiosity, I tried configuring an IPv6 subnet on my local LAN and, when I enable IPv6 on my plex server, I can connect from the iPad, but only via IPv6. The issue with IPv6 is that I can’t get the iPad to show as a Local connection when connected via IPv6, so all of the connections come in as remote and are subject to the constraints that imposes.
Again, my other iOS devices and web browsers have no issues connecting on the local LAN in IPv4 mode only.
Your logs do say that local network privacy is not allowed. There are also messages that there is no internet access. Definitely looks like some sort of networking issue. Not sure if it’s the app or something with your device. I’m still looking.
Let me know if I can provide any other assistance in troubleshooting this. I have enabled local networking (I’ve disabled and re-enabled a few times to see if toggling will resolve).
