IPv6 remote access fails with plexamp

I use a domain name directed to my local IPv6 address to remote access my home server, because my IPv4 address is under ISP NAT.

This worked flawlessly before but recently I noticed that the Plexamp on my iPhone no longer direct plays, I checked the log and it shows no IPv6 DNS resolution instead it connects to a NATed ipv4 address causing the connection to relay.

The Plex app on iPhone still works perfectly with IPv6, only Plexamp shows this behavior. What happened? I suppose something changed with some update because I recall it worked before.

i don’t think anything has changed in networking for a while. if you post Plexamp logs, we can see what connections it’s trying.

Thank you for the quick response, Elan.
I found the cause, my SSL certificate expired, everything works after I change the custom URL from https to http.
I think Plexamp doesn’t allow unsafe connection while Plex can work around it.

oh good, it sounds like better behavior to not visit a server with expired cert :joy:

glad you figured it out!
