IR Remote help.

Hi all, I'm new to Plex/RPi's/Rasplex etc.

 

Just after some help setting up remote controls.

I have 4 TV's I will eventually be running RPi2's and Rasplex on each (I have setup 1 so far and everything works amazingly). 1 of the 4 TV's standard remote works upon testing on each TV. The other 3 will need IR remotes.

 

With other people in the house who love the traditional TV remote, I wanted to setup for simple viewing so purchased this IR remote:

The problem is, that the left, right, and OK controls don't work. The up and down work. I have to flip the remote over to the keyboard side, and use enter and backspace to control the left/right functions. (I hope I'm making sense).

 

One of the TV's is an Smart TV (LG), it has an IR remote, but that also doesn't work for Plex (I have it's USB part plugged into the RPi2).

 

I would like simple remotes for each TV. If anyone can help with the following, I would be extremely grateful!

 

1. Any links to proven simple remotes that work on the RPi2/Rasplex, and any special instructions to getting it working.

2. How to get the Air Remote I just forked out a heap of money on to work properly.

3. How to potentially get the LG Smart TV IR remote to work.

4. Any other suggestions/options? I do have the Plex App on my iPhone that works, but it's not the same.

Not surprised this doesn't work out of the box, will probably need some key remapping.  Try search the internet for the device in connection with XBMC/Kodi/OpenELEC, someone may have figured it out already.

I bought a Flirc IR receiver (http://flirc.tv) and love it. I have a Harmony remote but it will work with any IR remote and is extremely easy to setup.

I second Flirc with a Harmony remote. Easy to set up and works like a charm.
