Ireland and Plex TV Live

Hi all

So I have decided recently to start using Plex as I got a Nvidia Shield and the Server on that works great. So I am up to speed on Movies which is primarily what the server will host.

However I also want to break the chains of Sky TV and get rid of Sky TV and replace with OTA as much as possible. Firstly, for those not in Ireland, we get like 6 stations OTA, that’s it…they are our Irish stations, we do not get any UK or EU ones without extra dishes and equipment.

Has anyone here who is also in Ireland got Plex TV running and

  • Do I need an Antenna and Tuner, I assume both so that it connects to the Shield

HD Home Room is not technically approved for Ireland I believe and to be honest I can’t see it getting more stations anyway.

Ideally I would like to get UK stations, the Freesat or Free to Air etc…not really sure…so what would I need to do this ?

I’m using tvheadend, a Windows PMS and the shield as a client. You’ll have to get two USB tuners and feed the satellite feed to one and the saorview feed to the other. Works well enough, the shield plex client can be a bit flaky when it comes to live TV though. Currently have an issue resuming paused TV on the shield.
