Is anyone having problems today, or is it just me?

I’m just trying to get Plex going while I’m at work (slow boring day) - but for some reason, nothing wants to play. I am using Plex Web, and I can get into my account. The libraries all show, and if I hover my mouse over the timeline, I can see thumbnails of different parts of the videos I’m trying to watch - but Playback never actually happens as the video sits, perpetually loading.

My system at home is running Windows 10 Pro on an i7 6700K, and was definitely working (locally) last night. I have tried watching it from work on a Windows 7 computer, using Google Chrome. I have also tried watching with my Android phone, both on the company network, and via mobile data, both with the same problem.

Is this an issue with my setup, or is anyone else having a problem?

Note - Plex from work has worked fine in the past, as has Plex via my mobile data, so if it’s my setup, this is a recent thing.

Edit: Audio files also are not playing.

Edit 2: When I click on the screen while the video is “loading”, I get a “Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error.” message. It’s probably my system, I suspect a reboot when I get home will solve it - I’m still curious if anyone else has a problem, but I expect it’s on my end.

my plex is working (been streaming all morning), so it is not affecting everyone, and as you say a reboot will probably fix it.

you may also want to check out the latest plexpass/beta release if you haven’t updated recently.

Thanks for the response. I’ll just have to Youtube stuff until I’m at home.

if you can access/see your server @ Plex Web you can go to settings > console to see the logs while trying to play something on your phone.

I’ve since made it home, and figured out what the problem was. Trying to play it on my local network, I was running into the same problem. A server reboot brought a new message, telling me the files weren’t found. A quick look showed the media drive was missing from Windows, and a couple of hard reboots did nothing to solve that. I shut the server down, pulled the drive in question, cleaned dust off it, and put it back in - everything’s great. It does make me glad that I’ve got backups of all the media, and a clean 8 TB drive ready to go though.
