At this point, I don’t have moods (well, I have plenty. But all bad). I don’t have Plex Shuffle. I don’t see any music videos popping up. Just play my collection and make playlists manually (which I don’t). Using Nvidia Shield for Plex server. Using Plex player on Andriod phone, Shield, and Windows 10 app. Am I missing something here? Why is it so featureless?
I use Plex primarily for music and photos.
If I remember correctly, music was one of the last modules to get added to Plex, so it is a bit behind in some respects. There are plenty of feature requests in the Feature Request forum, so take a look and add your votes to features you’d like to see.
I’ve given up on Plex for music. There’s been a bug in the Android player for months that randomly stops playback. I now can’t even sync any music to any of my Android devices. Enjoy it for what its good for, which is easy streaming of videos and find something else to stream your music with!
I do use it as my single music source, with about 200k tracks on it. I have no complaints about it, and I and the girlfriend and some friends listen to music from it every day.
What I would like to know is this: which service would be better than Plex? It’s an honest question, I would definetly like to know.

For me, MediaMokkey is far superior to Plex for music and audiobooks. However I realize my usage is not exactly standard and I listen to audio differently than most people seem to.
I do not require any metadata for music or my audiobooks I just want the player to provide access, playlist functionality, good resume reliability and the ability to play (with the resume working correctly) all contents of a folder in order.
But it does seem that MediaMonkey is fully capable for music with all the bells and whistles. I just do not need that functionality. At least not yet.
I use it a lot on my ps4 because my kids love to listen to music. When I’m driving I stream from my server to my android. No problems, generally. But is the music functionality great? By no means!
I think Plex needs to split the clients (at least on mobile devices) in to two: Plex audio (music/podcast/audiobooks) and Plex visual (TV/Movies/pictures/watch later). Other wise it’s going to quickly become too cumbersome (it really already is!), which is why I think podcast/audiobook are still missing along with e-reader/comics.
That’s just my opinion though. I can’t see the audio component being GREAT till its stripped of the video (honestly when does anyone go from music straight to a TV show/movie?) and is fast and easy to navigate.
At home I use it to listen to my music. When I’m out with just my phone I use Google Music, as all of my music has either been uploaded to their servers or purchased from there.
Ever since I started paying for Spotify or Google Play Music, I have stopped keeping my own library up to date as these services give me the ability to pretty much play anything anywhere. Further, my library is synched with Google Play Music that will then even serve me their higher quality version of songs that I’ve had for years.
So in short…I’ve never really had a reason to use it.
I have switched away from iTunes and Apple’s built in music player and started using mobile sync and Plex for all music on my iPhone. Works well for me. Apple really mucked up cover art in iTunes.
I use my Marantz app on my iphone and ipad and connect to my plex server to play my music. Since the marantz is dual zoned I can sit on the back porch and also play music. When my girlfriend comes over she can use airplay to the marantz and play music from her iphone. I also play pandora and other radio stations this way.

I would if I didn’t have a spotify sub.
With a 2 year old son, I pretty much have the wiggles on constant rotation.
Roon is rather great; Roon with Bluesound is even better:
I have a Raspberry Pi with a Hifiberry DAC running OpenPHT which I use as a headless music player. I control it with my iPad or phone. It works very well.
I also use Plex on my phone to listen to music in the car, my only gripe is that the iOS Plex app doesn’t do gapless playback.
I don’t use moods or Plex mix and I don’t use any grace note genres as I have carefully tagged my music collection.
Library navigation could be a bit better, record labels weren’t properly recognised last time I looked.

The Wiggles!! I miss The Wiggles, but with my sons now 20 and 16 I don’t get to watch them anymore (without seeming REALLY weird). :((
To keep the post on topic, I occasionally use Plex for music, not often though. I mostly listen to music on the plane so most of what I listen to is just on my phone.
Without gapless playback, Plex music is worthless to me. I have my mp3s in it hoping some day gapless will be implemented but it’s 5 years now and we are still waiting…
I exclusively use Plex on my iPhone. I have used sync to load all my music onto my device. I also routinely stream on my iPad using Plex.
Very happy with Plex Mix as I am too lazy to make my own playlists.
I use it to play music
Long time google music user, ever since the service (for uploading your own content) was released. Never subscribed to their offerings, too much of a server geek / cheapskate. However, the google music app moves further and further away from supporting your “owned” library and wants to force you into their stations and pandora-esque nonsense
My wishlist for Plex improvements in music would be Google-esque caching like their music app does as well as individual song ratings
I use it often…and then remember that the lack of gapless is annoying when I listen to a live album.
I never really liked the Audio part of Plex, compared to the video side of things its really sucks as a music stream/provider
I use it often either at home or on the way to/from work on my mobile. The sync feature is really nice and I also use plex mix a lot. I like the beautiful TV interface / remote control on my Fire TV and having similar interfaces on a lot of different family devices which to my knowledge is outstanding. However there are a lot of quirks in Plex music. I use plex mix a lot because creating playlists is cumbersome. When it comes to organizing, agents which generate basic music content have limits (e.g. multiple artists) that can’t be resolved manually. Handling of various artists albums or classic albums is a nuisance and a lot of available information isn’t used further (similar artists for plex mix). Looking on the technological side gapless playback (esp. for audio books), crossfading and normalization are the things I have been missing most. For some of these issues workarounds exist. You can e.g. use external devices for normalization or album wrap live recordings to have them played gapless.
