Is it possible to enable a different user to upload camera roll photos?

I’ve got a family of 5 and I want to enable all of my family members to upload their camera roll photos through the Plex App to their own Library. I have the libraries setup and shared properly with their plex user accounts, but when I go into their phone app settings in Plex to enable camera upload, it turns out that option isn’t available. It seems the option is only available for the root/master account. I don’t share the master account with anyone else and instead created them their own accounts in plex as a user. Is there any way to enable this functionality or perhaps request it as a future improvement? I really don’t want to setup each of my family members with my main plex account.

No. There is no way to allow others to upload photos.

Correction, thanks to Peter_W. Yes it is now possible. You will need to enable that from app.plex.tv/web/app. The local WebApp has not been updated to include those options.

Added an “Allow Camera Upload” option to a friend’s restrictions (supported in iOS / Windows Phone; Android coming soon).

Ah, got me. I thought I had seen that but couldn’t remember if I did or was just imaging it. Thanks for catching that.

I see the “allow camera upload” in the web settings for my users at app.plex.tv/web/app

I’ve enabled the option in the user settings and will test it tonight when I get home from work. Hopefully that will take care of it.

hello, I was trying the same thing that was described above, however I still can’t see the Camera Uploads option in my managed user and new images aren’t being uploaded as it should be. I tried enabling Camera Uploads in the web settings.

I am using the Plex app for iOS.

I just saw from another thread that camera upload only works on the primary server user and not for the managed users just yet. So I waslooking for a functionality that doesn’t exist just yet.

It works on Android devices (and it has been working for IOS devices).

So sad, this is a great feature to backup phone photos, hope they bring this back for IOS…
