Is Plex down again?

Thank you for the explanation. Plex will be big one day like Apple. Are you guys on AWS?

At last check, AFAIK, Plex uses AWS and CloudFlare

After a long day of biking, I came back to watch some shows on Plex. It is only showing the “King” account. It is not loading any shows. Family is asking me to fix it. I guess it is time to drinks some beers and break out the good ole VLC to watch my shows on. AT least until it is fixed.

AWS status doesn’t show any issues https://status.aws.amazon.com and cloudflare too https://www.cloudflarestatus.com

There’s no excuse for my server on my local network not working… it’s kinda my primary reason for setting it up. To require me to login to a remote service to access MY local content is kinda BS… I don’t really care how big or small plex is compared to Apple TV or anyone else.
Everyone has issues, I get it…I just don’t want my local network to be impacted.

@Anuruddha

they provide the hosts & networking; that’s all.
The rest is Plex.

There’s nothing more which can be said until they find the root cause.

I’m reading along with the discussion as they go through the entire chain and verify every component is working. At some point here, they will find it.

Do you have managed user accounts?

Srsly. Why can’t I login on my own server, in my own local network, to have access to my own media? oO

I didn’t know this could happen. For gods sake pls revert this cloud based (buzzword bingo) service and make it at accessable locally…

Yep. Managed user account here

It is a good idea to have at least one “managed account”.

Managed accounts run entirely within the confines of your local server.

If the server has everything it needs (including codecs) – you are golden.

I have the same problem here.

Yes I get it. hopefully Plex system engineers will restore everything back to normal.

I am convinced that they are doing their best to get us back to service as soon as possible. Don’t let go of the Team, we’re with you :)!

So… why do I only see the admin user in the managed users, and not the other users?

I will have to go look at that again when back operating.
I’ve always seen the admin + my managed username. (Plex Home)

Then you should be able to login locally to your local plex server.

The fact that cloud issues are preventing local login is surprising and worrisome. A main reason why we set up Plex is for local reliability and independence from the cloud.

The local service on my side leaves and comes back. The system is currently unstable.

If plex Authentication and API server is offline you will see only last login use name in any plex client. If you used managed user to access plex content you will see only that user in login page while plex Authentication and API server offline.

Managed users are linked to my Plex account (this is how it looks built anyway it’s really annoying - the only thing Plex is missing are local users) and if that doesn’t work then they too will not work properly. That’s why I think it’s doing this problem…
