Have edited names to movies numerous times, but they keep going back to numbers
please post the Plex XML info of one of the affected movies.
Here it is:
Did you install additional 3rd party metadata agents?
do this:
Go to Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheTVDB
In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.
Repeat the same under
Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheMovieDatabase
+
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie
+
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase
Also, if your media storage is not on internal drives, directly within the server:
Settings - Server - Library - ‘Empty trash automatically after every scan’ <-- DISable
It looks like the metadata is incorrect.
For the file you posted: title=“1008249259330288” instead of “Collateral (2004).”
Option 1: Correct the metadata
Use Mp3tag (Windows) or Subler (Mac) to correct the metadata.
- Move the affected files to an area not scanned by Plex.
- Correct the metadata.
- Perform the Plex Dance, then move the files back to your Plex Library.
Option 2: Delete the metadata, let Plex scanners handle things
- Move affected files to an area not scanned by Plex.
- Right click on file, choose Properties.
- Select Details tab, then “Remove Properties and Personal Information.”
- At a minimum, delete Title metadata (or choose option to create copy w/ all properties removed)
- Perform the Plex Dance, then move the files back to your Plex Library.
Option 3: Tell Plex to ignore metadata
- Go to PMS Settings -> Server -> Agents -> Movies
- Deselect “Local Media Assets (Movies)” in all areas.
- Tell Plex to refresh all metadata for each affected Library (if this does not work, then Plex Dance all affected movies).
Note: Option 3 might be easiest, but is also least desirable, as it leaves incorrect metadata in place. No guarantee that the problem won’t return at some future date.
Thanks FordGuy61, used step #2 and it works like a charm!!!
