Is there a Plex Media Player or Plex Client for a headless Ubuntu Server 18.04?

Server Version#: 1.13.8.5395

So I’m successfully using Plex via RasPlex and Samsung TV apps etc and have been for years.

However, what I’d really like to be able to do is have a Plex Client of some kind that automatically runs on my headless Ubuntu Server connected directly to my main TV via HDMI.

I don’t need an Ubuntu desktop - the server is solely a NAS/Plex Server - so the HDMI and graphics resources can be entirely consumed/allocated to the Plex Client.

I’ll freely admit I’m not a hardcore Ubuntu/Linux guy, so could be barking up the wrong tree - but surely that should be possible… If not fair play.

My server is a headless Ubuntu Server 18.04 LTS, running on a i7-3770 with 16GB of RAM so should be more than capable of being client and server.

Do you mean a Linux command-line Plex client?

No he means like a plex media player (client) for linux.

I’ve never used it, but check @ Plex Media Player packages for Linux

How would that work on a headless server as he described?

He wants to use HDMI on the headless server to TV. Thus making it no longer headless.

But doesn’t want full blown linux desktop.

IE, auto boot straight into Plex player

You got it TeknoJunky - That’s exactly what I want. Maybe I should have used desktopless rather than headless - but the idea is for the OS to be headless, and the Plex Client to have complete control of the HDMI output.
