Moving from Ubuntu (Linux) to Synology (also Linux), is fairly straight forward.
Broad strokes are to clone it:
Turn off all automatic Library management options (don’t auto scan / empty trash)
Make a ZIP/tar ball of the existing tree ( e.g. tar cf /path/tarfile.tar ./Library)
Take that to the Syno
Untar / unzip in the Plex share (DSM 6)
Use FileStation to set the ownership to plex:users
Now start PMS there and ADD the new path to the media (don’t remove old paths until done).
After all new media locations updated (posters will show “2” duplication),
Remove the original path.
After all is verified to be intact, completely erase the Ubuntu install as the ID numbers were cloned. Two systems with the same ID numbers wreak havoc for the user.
