I’m trying to use plex with my lg webos tv. On roku, I enabled direct play to reduce the load on my NAS (why transcode when you don’t have to?). But when I fired up plex on webos I got lots of buffering problems - I can only assume that plex was trying to upscale 1080p content to 4k - is there a way to turn this off in the webos app? Any help appreciated!
Nope, Plex doesn’t do that.
The Plex for SmartTV app does not have the option to force a direct play. The Smart TVs are a lot pickier about codecs than a Roku. Would need to see logs if to identify if the issue is the server or the client. In the LG app, enable the option to log to the server. Recreate the issue, then grab the PMS logs and upload it here.
