Is there a way to make a copy of a playlist

Server Version#:windows
Player Version#:android

When using android as player and scrolling through a long playlist (formerly 890 songs, now 889) it is easy to have the swiping scroll motion accidentally remove a song from the list.

  1. is there a way to restore the accidentally deleted track? I have no way of knowing what track it was.
  2. is there a way to make a copy of the playlist without manually adding the remaining 889 songs to a new playlist? It seems a "copy playlist " function would be a pretty basic function that appears to be sadly missing from Plex.

Use the web app.
Start playing the playlist.
While the first track is still playing, open the play queue using the icon in the lower right corner.
You can save the play queue as a new playlist from there.

Awesome, that worked great! Thank you!

Any way to figure out what song i accidently deleted?

Only if you use the “big hammer”
i.e. restoring an older server database backup Restore a Database Backed Up via 'Scheduled Tasks' | Plex Support

Lol, i figured. At least i wont have to worry about it again now that i have copies of the playlist thanks to you!

O appreciate it!

You can check your PMS logs. It will appear something like this.

DELETE /playlists/309712/items/14167

The first number is the ID for the playlist, the second number is the ID for the actual song. You can find the first number by looking in the URL while viewing the playlist. You can identify what the song is by calling up the XML info for anything on your server, then changing the key value in the URL to this item ID.

Thanks for the info. I was suspect the logs might be the place to go. I just installed PMS a few days ago and i downloaded all the logs. I then did a content search of all of the log files after extracting them, searching for the word “delete”, not case sensitive. It was not present in any of the log files.

I’ll chalk this up to being a PUE (probable user error) and I’m no longer concerned about it since i made dupes of the playlist.

I will say that you folks have finally built what I’ve been looking for over the last 20 years of me relying on digital music, ripping 1000+ CDs, being frustrated with Itunes and WMP.

I’m glad i signed up for the lifetime account

Keep up the good work! All i can say about PLEX is,… AWESOME!!!..ABOUT TIME! FINALLY SOMEONE ENGINEERED A WELL DESIGNED MEDIA SERVER!!!

I appreciate your help.

Ok, so i added a WDPR2100 to be my new plex server.

I fired it up, copied all the media to it, updated all the meta data.

How can i move, copy, create, or duplicate the playlist from PMS running on my laptop to my new NAS PMS?

I discovered how to import my itunes playlists to my Windows PMS, but even though i don’t get an error message, importing them to my NAS PMS doesn’t add anything.

You can only import from iTunes if iTunes is running on that machine, so for a NAS, this is not possible.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to do. You’ll have to recreate the playlist by hand.
