is there an older version of plex server where the photo timeline worked that i can use?
Timeline seems to be working for me in 1.25.5.5492, though I don’t use it much.
do you run the analyze scan on your photo library?
have you backed up and restored plex folder then ran a scan?
it works fine for me, if i delete and re-add the photo library. but randomly comes back shortly afterwards on its own. or if i restore plex folder then run scans it comes back immediately .
the below 2 lines of log files seem to be the time at which it was triggered. if i run analyze on a photo library that was already analyzed and it just scans then timeline is fine. but below is an example of when i run analyze and it decides for some reason they need updated. then it screws it up. but some times i ran analyze and it don’t feel the need to update the files and the results is timeline continues to work.

So it’s not the timeline, but possibly the Analysis function that’s having trouble. I haven’t had a need to do what you’re doing in quite some time, so I’m afraid I won’t be much help. But at least there’s more information that might allow someone to investigate.
that’s good you haven’t had this trouble. although it seems this has been posted and closed many times over the years. If this was a recent issue, i would just go to older version, or just wait for next couple releases. but to know my photo timeline will always be screwed up, forces me to switch back to google, apple, emby etc for the photo function. just cant understand why plex dont think this is a priority, since its part of the core system, not a feature you can try and turn off.
