Is there any way to throttle downloads?

Server Version#: Version 1.25.9.5673
Player Version#:

One of my remote users uses the download function provided by Plex. However, I started to notice that when he downloads, all my other users’ performance degrades tremendously, and they all begin to buffer repeatedly. I looked at the bandwidth graph and see that the download process takes all available bandwidth, leaving next to none for any “real time” users.

I there a way to force the downloads to run more like a background task, or throttle how much bandwidth is allocated to the download process?

Is there any way to kill a download process from the server console?

click setting/ Manage library access/ click the user who downloads/ restricts/allows downloads /edit /and uncheck the box

thx, I undefrstand that I can disallow user from downloading, but I only want to throttle ithe download speed, not deny him the use of the feature. As it stands, when downloading, it usurps all available bandwidth.

I would either like to restrict the activity to between certain hours of the day (night, really), or limit consumprion tp lets say 1-2 Mbps only, not let it go hog wild and steal the system from real time users

there is no way to limit, I recommend an ftp server that you can limit

Did you put some values into the input fields under
Settings - Server - Remote Access
?

Both “Internet upload speed”
and
“Limit remote stream bitrate” should be set to some reasonable limit.

Surely it is related to the stream and not to the download of the movie.

Downloads are supposed to adhere to the same limits.

I had upload speed set to 12, which is all i get from my ISP. However, the remote stream was set to 10 Mbps, so i have reset that to 4 Mbps.

I’ll get it tested and reply back here in a day or 2.

Thank you guys for the suggestions.
