Issue claiming server

Thanks- seems to be ok now from web browsers.

UPDATE - still not working. Can sign in but do not see my local Plex server. Early Access was offered - something still quite broken :pensive:

Says content unavailable in any app.
Can or see Plex on my NAS - have rebooted it and logged out of every device.
Is this a PlexPass users issue?

early access to what? ( we have a bunch of things in early betas for those that want too try them)

No it is not related to PP.

It just popped up saying ā€œdo you want early accessā€ and then changed the look of the app.

I still cannot see my Plex Media Server since the issues. It’s Synology, the package is the latest, it is running and rebooting made no difference.

Any ideas?

Did you remove your server from https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/online-media-sources ?

If you need to claim it again you need to access it from NASip:32400/web/index.html then claim

You can also try https://github.com/ukdtom/ClaimIt that one the Ninjas made

thanks Bigwheel. I don’t think I removed the server from sources, but if I did it was after the issues. Everything was fine until the login problems last night. If I follwo your URL to sources I see this.

On iOS it sometimes says ā€œmultiple sources are available choose oneā€. If my NAS appears and I pick it nothing realluy happens.

I tried ClaimIT but get this error ā€œError 401ā€ which I have seen in some Plex app screens.
It says the password etc were ok but JobFailed.

I’ve removed the PMS package, rebooted and reinstalled numerous times. Tried from my LG TV and varios iOS apps, Safari, Chrome and a PC on chrome. Each time it won’t ā€œseeā€ a server and offers that I should ā€œGet Plex Media Serverā€ when I click on My Media. I never had to do this before. On iOS it seems to have cached some folders - but each are ā€œOfflineā€.

sorry that was the wrong link, I meant here https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/devices/all. You should be able to use the drop to to view servers if there are any.

you can also try this if the server might be mistakenly signed into the wrong account. https://support.plex.tv/articles/204281528-why-am-i-locked-out-of-server-settings-and-how-do-i-get-in/

thanks Bigwheel - I can now see all the devices. I can’t see anything that looks like the Synology.

I did have a look at the support article 204281528 - I edited the preferences.xml and removed the entries suggested, but not all were in there. PlexOnlineHome=ā€œ1ā€ was not there, and PlexOnlineToken=ā€œRanDoMHexIDecIALtoKeNheREā€ was blank PlexOnlineToken=" "

I also tried adding a new user from within the Plex pages - no luck.

It looks like this in the web client

ok when you fo to IPofSyno:32400/web/index.html. where ā€œIPofSynoā€ is your Synolgy’s local IP do you see the same thing?

I made this a separate topic since I think this has turned into a different issue for you.

hi I see this
image

If I deleted the preferences.xml from ```
/Volume1/Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/ completely would that be a bad idea?

it will start your server completely from scratch

that’s normal. it just means you are signing into that local Web app rather than the one hosted at app.plex.tv. You only need to be worried if that is not an IP you recognize

I’m gonna ping @ChuckPa since he is much more knowledgable about Synology than me

many thanks Bigwheel. I’m in UK and so heading to bed now, but anything you find out would be great. I’ll give it a shot tomorrow.

One thing I don’t think I mentioned - when I couldn’t log in last night, I did a password reset but kept the same password. I have changed it since then, and also edited my profile to try a new username. No luck.

Hi Trumpy,
Followed those steps and it’s all working again! You are a star!! Thanks so much. :+1:

It reset the PM server but kept the libraries.

BigWheel thanks for your help to! :+1:

Hi Trumpy,

I’m replying this message just for other users’ benefit. I’ve spent the past 10 hours digging the issue of 401 Unauthorized and 500 Internal errors with my Plex installation on Synology NAS (both app store distribution and docker one) but with no luck to get it moving.

I’ve also tried your methods, but it keeps telling me the request to claim timed out (I figured out from the log). Then I try to disable my router proxy for ā€œplex.tvā€, it works!!!

So if anyone like me accessing plex.tv behind a proxy, please try close it and follow trumpy’s methods. Hope it work!

Thanks!
